Dear Moray Firth Partnership Member,
We have been asked to let you know about two separate, but related consultations by organisations proposing to develop offshore wind energy in the outer Moray Firth. The two developments relate to separate, but adjacent areas, north of the existing Beatrice Oil Field and the two demonstrator wind turbines there. Details are available on their website, and will shortly be included on the Moray Firth Partnership own website.
Following the issue of their Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Reports, both developers are holding a series of public consultation exhibitions around the Moray Firth area, some of which are joint events. All members of the public are invited to attend and discuss the proposals with members of the staff and to take part in the consultation.
Moray Offshore Renewables Ltd. (MORL) issued its scoping report on the 20th August 2010. Their site is split into two sections, western and eastern, and the scoping report relates to the western portion of the site. MORL is planning up to 200 wind turbines , in an area of approximately 522.15km2, about 13.5 miles off the Wick Coast. The public consultation on MORL Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Report runs from 31 August until 30 November 2010. The report is available at:
