And calling all cruiser sailors: Hi to All Skippers, Hopefully some of you are aware Findhorn Marina is planning a Rya informal trining event for keel boats and cruisers on the 1st/2ndOctober. I am still at the planning stage, but the idea is for Skippers to volunteer to encourage new crews to develop skills on the passage to Findhorn from your home port, a race round the cans before entering the bay and relaxing. In the evening have a meal at the marina and some form of talk/entertainment (the marina is licensed). Then on the following day, a passage race home. As I said I am at the planning stage so if you have better idea let me know. The Questions I would like to ask are

The Gunn Trophy is aimed at Topper Sailors competing in teams of three. The best overall team score over a series of four or more short races will win the prize. There is no entry fee but there may be a small charge for the barbeque at the end of the afternoon. The emphasis will be on friendly competition and team playing. Adults from visiting Clubs will be invited onto rescue boats to help identify sailors and to ensure fair play! All participants must still be attending School. Scoring will be on a low point system with the aggregated overall score of each team counting towards the final result. There will be no discards. It is intended that competing teams will be sailing Toppers.. This will be Lochcarron Sailing Club's "Sail for Gold Event" in 2011. All competitors will receive Sail for Gold momentos for participating. The trophy is a scale replica of a British Navy cannon. (It is named after the late Douglas Gunn who was commodore of Lochcarron Sailing Club in the 1990s.) The winning Team will have the option to host the Gunn Trophy Event at their Club in 2012 if they wish. Briefing will be at 1.00pm. (Probably 2 or 3 races followed by a short shore break and then 2 or 3 more.) Barbeque and Award Ceremony at 5.00pm. Please Contact Dave Murray on david.murray@btconnect.com with any queries and to notify us of your intention to attend. It would be very helpful if clubs will let us know in advance if they intend to participate. HMS AGM - 31 May 2011 06/05/2011
As already notified, our Annual General Meeting will be kindly hosted by Chanonry Sailing Club on Tuesday, 31 May 2011 commencing at 7 PM. We are urgently seeking nominations for the posts of Vice-Chairman and Secretary and nominations will remain open until 22 May (nominations please either to me, Simon Paterson or Jane Campbell Morrison). A draft agenda is attached for your consideration. Under the constitution we would normally accept items for the agenda up to 21 days before the meeting and a final agenda would then be issued 14 days before the meeting. However, as I will be travelling until 19 May and in the absence of a secretary, a final agenda will be issued on 24 May and therefore the agenda will remain open for proposals until 22 May (proposals to either Simon or myself). Immediately following on from the AGM, Jane Campbell Morrison will hold an RYAS update before Angie Sword delivers a workshop on linking with schools. Also attached are the minutes of the 2010 AGM and the draft HMS Strategic & Operational Plan 2011. Additionally, I have also attached the minutes from the routine meeting held by teleconference on 19 April. For those unable to attend the AGM, please send apologies to either Simon or myself. The meeting will be open to anyone interested in sailing development but for any matters requiring a vote to resolve, voting will of course be limited to the official delegates so entitled. Regards to all, Richard Jenner Chairman
